New Hair Do

Payton was a very good girl today when I took her to get her hair cut. She sat and made faces in the mirror most of the time. She almost had a breakdown when the cape was put on and she couldn't find her hands, but all was well when we showed her they could come out the sides! The stylist commented that she's never had a child sit so still before. I guess all those lessons in making faces in the mirror paid off!

Big Girl Bed!

Payton and I were snuggling in her Big Girl Bed today reading a book, as we've been doing. I have been trying to get her used to the new room. However, when I went to move her to her crib, she refused! She ended up taking a 3 1/2 hour nap in her new bed. She woke up quietly and looked out the window until I came in to get her! Tonight Scott and I read her a book, said prayers and tucked her in. She's growing up so fast!

Perin Christmas

We had a great time with my Mom's side of the family this weekend. We stayed (attempted to anyway) at a hotel in West Des Moines with the whole family. Payton didn't adjust to the room well, and we ended up leaving after midnight. Payton had a blast swimming with Daddy and kissing my cousin's son, Jackson. Hopefully this isn't an indicator of what teenage years will be like!

Ball!

Ok, so I caved. Payton and I took our daily trip to Target. As we were walking she spotted a bunch of large, plastic balls in a bin and shouted "Ball!" She didn't throw a fit as I kept walking, but she made sure not to lose eye contact with them as she continued to point and say, "Ball!" So...I backed up the cart. You should've seen the look in her eyes when I handed her a ball that was bigger than her! Not only did she giggle the entire time we shopped, but she held onto that impossibly big ball for the remainder of our shopping trip. Mind you she couldn't see a thing and her tiny hands and arms were stretched clear out. On the way home, all I could see in the backseat was a big purple ball and feet. All I could hear was laughing. I guess sometimes it's the little things, even if it means caving, that can bring so much joy!

Finger Painting with Pudding

Although the idea was to paint pictures with the pudding, Payton quickly figured out eating it and smearing it all over her face was much more fun! She had pudding up her nose for 2 days but had a blast making the mess!
